Is an Overlay Right for Your Slab?
What is a concrete overlay?
An overlay places a new cementitious surface over suitable existing concrete. It can be used to refresh worn concrete, change the appearance or create decorative effects without complete slab replacement.
Can every concrete slab receive an overlay?
No. Existing movement, moisture, contamination, structural cracks or unsound concrete may make an overlay inappropriate. Evaluation and preparation are critical.
Can overlays be decorative?
Yes. Depending on the project, overlays can create custom colors, textures and decorative patterns, including finishes designed to mimic other materials.
Do overlays repair structural problems?
Decorative overlays are finish systems, not structural repairs. Significant slab movement or structural issues should be addressed before a finish system is selected.
